How to Crystallize Marble Floors
The crystallization of marble floors is a chemical-mechanical treatment that reacts with the calcium carbonate of the stone to create a highly resistant, protective surface saline layer with a shiny mirror-like finish.
Necessary materials
- rotary machine
- Steel wool (No. 2 or 3)
- Crystallizing liquid
- Neutral cleaner
- Protective equipment
Step by step process
Preparation and cleaning
The floor must be completely clean, dry and free of debris.
- •Apply stripper if there are old waxes.
- •Wash with neutral floor cleaner and wait for it to dry.
- •Protect baseboards with masking tape.
steel wool
Install the steel wool disc directly on the rotary machine plate. Make sure it is centered correctly to avoid vibrations or uneven polishing.
Crystallizer application
Always work in small areas (2 to 3 m²). Pour or spray a small amount of liquid directly onto the pavement. Do not overdo it so as not to make drying difficult.
mechanical friction
Immediately pass the machine over the liquid with slow, intersecting passes. Continue until the liquid disappears and the surface is dry and shiny.
Repetition and inspection
For a "mirror effect", repeat by applying a second coat. When you finish the room, wipe it with a clean mop or vacuum to remove any steel wool shavings.
